Sustainability events around campus this academic year

UNCG Sustainability Film & Discussion Series 2012-2013

UNCG will again host a year-long series of films designed to stimulate discussion about a sustainable future for the planet.

Several will be shown throughout the year unless otherwise noted, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, at the corner of Tate and Spring Garden streets on the UNCG campus. Free parking in rear of building. There will be opportunities for post-film dialogue with film makers and/or local experts to address how Greensboro can move into a sustainable future.

The scheduled films are:

The City Dark

Thursday, February 7, 6: 30pm
The City Dark is a feature documentary about light pollution and the disappearing night sky. Featuring stunning astrophotography and a cast  of eclectic scientists, philosophers, historians and lighting designers. The City Dark is the definitive story of light pollution. Dir:lan Cheney, 2011. 84 mins.


In Organic We TrustIn Org-nic We Trust

Thursday, March 7, 6:30pm

In Org-nic We Trust is an eye-opening food documentary that follows Director/Producer Kip Pastor on a personal journey to answer commonly asked questions about organic food: What exactly is organic? Is it really better or is it just a marketing scam. Dir: R. Kipl in Pastor, 2012, 82 mins

Sustainability Short Film Competition

Thursday, April 18, 6: 30pm

The Weatherspoon Art Museum with the UNCG Sustainability Committee present the 4th Annual Sustainability Short Film Competition.
