Over the last year, there have been numerous improvements in the realm of transportation demand management at UNCG. The university recently adopted its first Transportation Master Plan. This long-range plan represents a shift in focus from primarily managing parking, to developing an integrated and multi-modal network of transit options for campus users. In the summer of 2006, “Parking Services” became “Parking Operations & Campus Access Management” to reflect this new paradigm. Additionally, the university partnered with the city of Greensboro and area colleges to implement the Higher Education Area Transit (“HEAT”) system. These new bus routes not only connect area colleges, but also provide a commuting option for UNCG students in nearby neighborhoods.

The Transportation & Campus Access group is working to support these efforts by building awareness about current programs, identifying new strategies, and implementing improvements outlined in the new master plan.
